Ken Greenwood has spent more than three decades building the kind of software large organizations cannot afford to get wrong. Before founding ClaimMark he was the architect Fortune 500 companies called when a mission-critical system had to be built, or rescued. ClaimMark-P brings that discipline to patent practice.
The world's largest SAP module
Ken's defining engagement was at Random House. The publisher had already been through two failed, multi-million-dollar attempts by major consulting firms to build a rights and royalties system in SAP. Ken was brought in as technical architect and development lead for the third attempt. He owned the analysis, design, and architecture, and led a team of 30 developers alongside 20 business analysts.
Using an object-oriented design approach he devised for the project, the team delivered a never-before-built royalties module in nine months, on time and on budget. It became the world's largest SAP module at the time.
Royalty accounting is among the most rule-dense work in enterprise software. Contract terms, rates, escalators, subsidiary rights, and reserves must all reconcile to the penny, for thousands of authors, every statement period. Turning dense contractual language into exact, auditable systems is the same problem ClaimMark-P solves for patent claims.
Wrote the book on ABAP
Ken's career was built on SAP. He earned his ABAP certification in 1997, founded the SAP consulting and training firm Modus Novus, and in 1998 wrote the best-selling Sams Teach Yourself ABAP/4 in 21 Days (Sams/Macmillan), which introduced a generation of developers to SAP's programming language. For years he taught SAP's own curriculum for SAP America and SAP Canada, covering ABAP, business intelligence and data warehousing, workflow, and archiving, at SAP headquarters, training centers across North America, and customer sites in Mexico and the Netherlands.
His consulting and training clients have included Intel, the World Bank, HP, Amtrak, IBM, Accenture, Walmart, Home Depot, Nike, and Kimberly-Clark.
The architect you call for a rescue
At LORD Corporation, an aerospace component supplier, an investigation after a helicopter crash revealed duplicate serial numbers on rotor mounts. Ken led the technical team that completely redesigned and re-implemented the company's serialization module, allowing LORD to keep its Department of Defense contract. At Breakthru Beverage Group he led the technical analysis and key development that turned a failed first mobile sales platform into a successful second release.
Over those years he developed a structured, self-documenting coding methodology for defect prevention in large business systems. Its descendant governs how ClaimMark-P itself is built: every business object has one owner, every change has a record.
AI, and three patents
In 2020 Ken became Chief Technology Officer of Healthcare Integrated Technologies (now SafeSpace Global, OTC: SSGC), where he architected SafeSpace, an AI and sensor platform that protects residents in senior-care facilities while preserving their privacy. That work produced U.S. Patents 11,587,423 and 11,886,950, both co-invented with Jürgen Vollrath. As CTO of Revolution MD he co-invented U.S. Patent 12,587,381, an AI-supported system for monitoring and controlling high-risk substances. Further applications in AI-driven narrative analysis are pending, and he and Jürgen Vollrath have filed a patent application covering ClaimMark-P's approach to automating patent drafting.
Why ClaimMark
Going through patent prosecution as an inventor, Ken saw a familiar problem: high-stakes documents assembled by hand under deadline, where one inconsistent term or misread citation can cost a client its rights. He founded ClaimMark and built ClaimMark-P so that every number, citation, and claim element traces back to its source, and the attorney stays in control of every judgment.
Outside software, Ken is an award-winning landscape photographer and co-founder of Shredded Lens Studios, which applies AI analytics to film development.
